Jon Brittain

Owner / Senior Financial Adviser

Jon has been a Financial Planner since 2007 and holds Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Graduate Diploma qualifications in Financial Planning.

Jon has been in the finance industry since 1989 working for the NAB Group, initially in Queensland before transferring to Victoria in 2001. He held various Management roles in retail and business banking as well as operations and National Sales roles. In 2004 he joined MLC where he worked as a Practice Development Manager providing business and practice management support to growing financial planning practices.

By 2006 Jon decided he had enough of corporate life and established his own financial planning practice and in 2007 he joined forces with Michelle and Acorn Wealth. Jon is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), holds various specialist advice accreditations and is currently studying a Masters of Financial Planning.

Jon is married to Carmel and has two children, Bridie and Fergus. Apart from spending time with his family his hobbies include cycling, hiking / walking, gardening and spending time with friends.

Michelle Galvin

Owner / Senior Financial Adviser

Michelle has been a Financial Planner since 1992 and is a Certified Financial Planner with a Diploma and Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Michelle first started her career in financial planning with one of Australia’s leading banks, where she achieved the recognition of being the Bank’s top Financial Planner nationally. Michelle then furthered her career in financial planning by moving to a new role with GIO Financial Services.

In 2000 she recognised the need to provide financial advice on a more strategic / holistic level and formed Vickery Galvin Financial Services now known as Acorn Wealth.

Michelle’s main focus is to provide high quality advice in all facets of financial planning, retirement, wealth creation and risk management.

Her interests include dining out, art appreciation, live theatre and spending time with her family.

Mark McNeany

Senior Financial Adviser

Mark is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), practitioner member of the Financial Planning Association, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Latrobe University and Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. Outside of his local studies, Mark has also completed an Executive Education Strategic Leadership program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining Acorn Wealth in 2021, Mark was director and adviser within his own business Vertex Group, co-founded in 2002. Before this Mark ran his own financial planning practice established in 1996 which later operated as part of Vertex Group. Mark’s early experience in financial services started in 1987 with National Mutual in their Corporate Superannuation division, both in head office and their Victorian Branch, followed by 6 years at GIO Australia as a Financial Planner.

Mark is married with 3 children and enjoys a hit of golf when he gets the chance. Mark also enjoys basketball and he still plays, sharing his love of the game as a junior coach with the Malvern Tigers for over 10 years while his boys played through the ranks.

Suzanne Poulton

Financial Adviser

Suzanne has been in the Financial Planning industry since 1996 and transitioned to a Financial Adviser in 2015. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and an accreditation in Aged Care Financial Advice. 

During her time in the industry, Suzanne has worked in various financial planning practices specialising in retirement planning, Centrelink and aged care.

Suzanne strives to build strong client relationships and obtain the best outcome for clients.

Suzanne’s hobbies are all crafts, cooking and catching up with family and friends over wine and a charcuterie board.

Edward Jenkins

Financial Adviser

Ed has worked in the financial advice industry since 2003, and has returned to financial advising after 17 years in the corporate world, lastly as a Practice Development Manager with Insignia Financial and MLC. He holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, as well as a Bachelor of Business, and is a member of the FAAA.

Currently completing his Professional Year, Ed looks forward to building relationships with clients, helping them plan and achieve their future goals.

Ed is married to Nicole, and his two sons Harry and Elliott keep him busy playing sport, listening to music and travelling.

Nathalie Gelle

PARAPLANNING ASSOCIATE

Nathalie has been in the financial planning industry for over 15 years. She joined Acorn Wealth in 2008 and has a strong background in client services and administration. Previously working as a Client Services Associate, Nathalie now coordinates advice document preparation for the business.

In her spare time Nathalie enjoys going to the movies, reading, listening to music, dinning out, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Robin McNeany

Client Service Associate

Robin’s past experience includes roles at Ernst & Young, Advance Australia Foundation and Blockbuster Australia. Employed in various positions in Blockbuster head office, firstly in their Finance Department and later as Executive Assistant to both the CFO and Vice President of the company. Prior to Acorn Wealth Robin spent 10 years as a Client Services and Office Manager with Vertex Group Financial Planning.

She is married with 3 children and enjoys reading, cooking, shopping with her daughter and spending time with her groodle Doug – but mostly just enjoying time with her family and friends.

Di McCann

Client Service Associate

Diane has been involved in financial planning for over 30 years. Most of these years have been spent as a financial planner specialising in retirement planning, Centrelink and aged care.

In 2021 Diane decided to take a step towards retirement and moved from planning to administration and customer support within the financial planning industry. Diane joined Acorn Wealth in September 2023 and is involved in implementation and client support.

Outside of work Diane enjoys horse riding, dog training, hiking and enjoying the outdoors, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Jenson Galvin

Client Service Associate

Jenson began working with Acorn Wealth in 2023 in Client Services and Operations. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Media and Communications, he works part-time around his schedule at Melbourne University, and when not studying, will most likely be the person to take your call at the office.

Jenson has a strong passion for politics, motorsport, and is a die-hard tragic for the St Kilda Saints. Jenson also spends time mentoring in various faculties at a secondary education level. Outside of work, he can be found pursuing his hobbies, but most of the time, will be spending time with his family.
